The project helps facilitate Save the Children’s Kabataang Aralin sa Lahat Ibahagi (KASALI) project that looks into how children with disabilities are being included in classrooms and early childhood centers.
Mobile application (Android and iOS) for parents or guardians of children with disabilities provides information such as available services in a city with contact details and location and multimedia learning materials on community-based inclusive development. Users can conveniently SMS or call a service provider or display its location in a map from within the app. Parents and guardians can also report activities done from information in the app based on pre-defined categories to help measure changes in knowledge, attitude and practice. Mobile sign up and log in with SMS verification was also implemented, besides the usual sign up/login process, as most of the target users in the barangays don’t have email addresses or social media accounts. On sign up, users go through a profile wizard to register their children with disabilities (minus personal information). This is used to filter information shown to users in addition to their location.
All contents and functions in the mobile app are also available in the companion web application. Available also to parents and guardians who don’t have access to smartphones. For Save the Children, its partners and host barangays, the web application provides data analysis and visualization; and content management that pushes multimedia contents to the mobile apps based on predefined categories.
